Choosing the right affiliate program (CPA network) in traffic arbitrage is the key to successfully monetizing your traffic. On the other hand, a wrong choice can lead to wasted time, ineffective work, and, in some cases, unpleasant consequences such as shaving and loss of advertising budget. In this material, we will look at the main criteria and factors that should be considered when choosing a CPA network in order to achieve optimal results.

Criteria for a good AP
Beginners in arbitrage often make a mistake: they choose the first available affiliate program (AP), lose money, get disappointed, and abandon the idea of arbitrage. To avoid this situation, when choosing an affiliate program, pay attention to three important criteria:

Hold and payout
It is important to understand that a hold is a period during which funds for confirmed leads (i.e., our earnings) remain frozen.

For example: if you have 10 confirmed leads worth $240 and the hold period is 7 days, then you will only be able to withdraw these funds 7 days after the lead is confirmed.

Payout frequency
This is the time interval between withdrawals after the end of the hold. Different affiliate programs have different payout schedules. Some APs pay out 1-2 times a week, while others may pay out daily or on a specific schedule.

For example: every Tuesday.

Support
Support is a key aspect of any good affiliate program and includes having a dedicated account manager available to answer any questions and help with any problems you may have. In addition, it is important to have prompt technical support that will help solve any technical problems.

Minimum withdrawal amount
This is the minimum amount of money that must be earned in order to receive a payment. If your earnings are below this amount, the money will not be paid until the minimum amount is reached.

For example: if the minimum withdrawal amount is $50 and your earnings are only $10, then the money cannot be withdrawn until your earnings reach $50.

These parameters may differ for different affiliate programs. All information about the hold, payment frequency, and minimum withdrawal amount can be found in the help section on the website of a specific affiliate program or from your personal manager, who will be designated to you after registering in the affiliate program.

For example: our partner, CPA network S, has the “FAQ and manuals” section describing in detail the terms of payments and holding.

Affiliate program traffic verification
When you first cooperate with an AP, there is a possibility that the traffic will be sent for verification. Thus, the AP assesses the quality of traffic before paying out funds. The main parameter for AP is the purchase rate - the percentage of those who confirmed the purchasing request and received the goods.

For about a week (depending on the AP), the earned funds will be frozen for verification.
A useful lifehack to quickly pass verification: take screenshots of statistics from your Facebook advertising account at the end of each day. In case of any misunderstandings, you can provide these screenshots.

At the beginning, the parameters of hold, minimum amount for withdrawal, and frequency of payments are especially important. Considering that newcomers to the field of arbitrage are likely to have a small turnover, it is optimal to be able to withdraw small amounts and do so with maximum frequency.

Affiliate program reputation
Assessing the reputation of an affiliate program plays an important role in deciding whether to cooperate. It is important to study the reviews of other arbitrageurs to understand what they encounter (non-payments, shaving, etc.). You also need to consider how many years the AP has been working on the market, as this may indicate its stability and reliability.

However, the key point is justified negative reviews. Every AP may have negative comments, but the difference is how valid they are. If complaints are related to low confirmation rates (approval) or inconsistencies in the requests data (shave), then this may be a sign of a problem with the AP.

Do not consider reviews based on personal negative experiences because there is a risk they are distorted or incomplete.

Which reviews are irrelevant:

It is important to closely analyze the reviews, since many of them may simply be negative opinions from offended arbitrageurs, especially newbies who may not be well informed. When evaluating negative reviews, you should pay attention to their validity.

For example, a comment like “I only have 20% approval, they are shaving!” may be untenable and provide little information for decision-making.

How do I find reviews about the selected AP? Two options:
  1. In a Google search engine with the query “reviews + name of the selected affiliate program.”
  2. Searching for mentions in arbitrage chats will help you find reviews about your chosen affiliate program. In these chats, you can find negative reviews and evaluate the overall reputation of the AP. It is also worth asking questions about the reputation of the chosen AP in arbitrage communities.
You can also consult with experienced arbitrageurs on our forum or in chats and ask about the reputation of a certain affiliate program. Start with the question “What do you know about AP-name? Is it alright?

Shave check
Let's figure out how to check an affiliate program for the presence of shaves.

Shave: this is when an affiliate program does not consider leads in statistics or assigns them “rejected” or “trash” statuses after confirmation in order to avoid payments. Thus, an arbitrageur can lose money and not know about it.
When checking the AP for shaving, pay attention to the following:
  • Check the lead status in your personal account. Make sure that all the leads you have submitted are displayed correctly there.
  • Pay attention to the lead statuses: “Pending”, “Confirmed”, “Rejected”, “Trash”. Confirmed leads must be paid correctly and not rejected without explanation or labeled as trash.
  • If you find inconsistencies, contact the AP manager to clarify and resolve the problem.
If you have any doubts about the integrity of the selected affiliate program, there are several ways to validate:

Request AP for clients' phone numbers, which will allow you to contact them directly.

For example, after receiving customers' contact information, you can contact them to find out if they have confirmed their order. Sometimes you may find out that a customer has confirmed an order, but in the program statistics, the order is marked as rejected.
But this option is almost impossible, given that it will require knowledge of foreign languages.

If you do not wish to personally interact with the affiliate program's contact center, you can order a recording of the conversation with the rejected lead and listen to it. This method allows you to get an idea of the quality of service and the content of the dialogue without direct communication with customers.

This will help you avoid losing your earnings due to shaving.

The basic roadmap of an affiliate program (how does an affiliate program work?)
  1. Online registration: partners (webmasters or arbitrageurs) register in the CPA network, gaining access to advertisers’ offers.
  2. Selection and promotion of offers: partners select suitable offers for promotion, considering their topic, target audience, and other parameters. Then they drive traffic to these offers through various marketing channels.
  3. User actions: users perform certain actions on the advertiser's site, such as registering, filling out forms, or purchasing a product or service.
  4. Tracking and recording actions: the CPA network tracks and records every user action related to the offer that brought the partner.
  5. Fee payment: in accordance with the terms of the offer, partners are awarded a fee for each action performed by the user. This fee is paid to the arbitrageur by the AP.
Thus, the CPA network ensures effective interaction between advertisers, partners, and users, allowing partners to monetize their traffic and advertisers to receive concrete results for their investments.

Conclusion
As part of our course, we have already looked at the theoretical component of choosing an affiliate program and methods for its validation. Now it's time to introduce you to our partner - a CPA program.

The affiliate program has offers in the field of nutra, which is one of the most popular areas of traffic arbitrage. In addition, it is important to note that this AP is known for its reliability and loyalty to newcomers from the FB-Killa forum.

If you indicate that your training is carried out at the FB-Killa, you can count on an additional bump (an increase in the offer’s rate) for each offer in order to increase the motivation for effective cooperation.

Let's move on to practice
We propose to move on to the practical part of the first day of training and start by registering in the affiliate program - [Day 1] Register in the affiliate program and get acquainted with the interface (practice).

This is an excellent opportunity to put the acquired knowledge into practice. We will consider the main terms of cooperation and what opportunities this AP provides for the participants in our training.
